Step beyond the conventions of traditional hip hop and EDM toolkits into a world where dark, gritty textures and edgy, distorted sounds meet modern production. LO-FI is designed for producers who seek bold new territory beyond the clean and polished—diving into a world of intentional imperfection and extreme processing. By creatively reshaping sound through pitch shifting, distortion, and degradation, we’ve transformed everything from synths and keys to orchestral textures and guitars into dynamic, expressive instruments. Whether crafting hip-hop beats, atmospheric soundtracks, or experimental electronic music, these sounds provide the raw energy and depth to inspire new sonic frontiers.
LO-FI’s user interface centers around an XY Pad with 4 selectable Macro Effects that change multiple parameters simultaneously. Blending a vintage knob-per-function design with sleek modern styling, all of LO-FI’s controls are easily accessible in a single page - from dual filters that can be modulated to an advanced 16-step arpeggiator, a multi-mode portamento (glide), and a bevy of effects to widen, pulse, distort, delay, and spatialize the final sound.
Enable Portamento to dial in pitch slides between 2 notes, creating lyrical monophonic sounds that will make your leads and basses sing. With the Arpeggiator engaged, Portamento creates slides in pitch between the individual notes for some truly expressive patterns. Portamento can even be used with polyphonic sounds like a pad to add movement between chords.
Program dynamic and complex arpeggiator patterns with LO-FI feature-rich 16-step Arpeggiator, featuring velocity scaling, sync and unsynced rates, swing, gate, random and more.
Select between 4 Macro Effects – Stutter, Dream, Space, and Grit – then control it by moving XY Pad Control to change 2 or more parameters simultaneously by moving it along the X-axis and Y-axis.
Once you’ve added some modulation using the 3 Modulation Amount knobs in the Ring Mod and HP/LP Filter sections, you can experiment with different rhythms and movement by adjusting the settings on their corresponding Modulation Sources.
Produce rhythmic pans of any speed or shape with Auto Pan, be it synced to the tempo or running freely at a set audio rate. Increase the Width control to add more intensity to the effect.
Create a wide stereo image by dialing in some Stereo Double effect to blend more of the source signal into either the left or right channel.
A host of on-board effects are at your disposal, including a multi-mode Ensemble Chorus effect made famous on string machines, and a Phaser Stone effect that emulates the coveted sound of vintage multi-stage phaser pedals.
Create metallic, bell-like tones by adding a bit of ring modulation to the sound source.
Add Rhythm and Movement: Use the 3 bipolar Modulation Amount knobs to apply modulation in either a positive or negative direction to the Ring Mod Amount parameter from the following Modulation Sources: Velocity, Envelope, and LFO/Step LFO.
With its versatile dual filter design, and up to 3 selectable filter types each, the High Pass (HP) Filter and Low Pass (LP) Filter offer a wide range of sonic possibilities, including 2 and 4 pole state variable filters, and the classic Ladder filter design (LP) popularized by Moog analogue synthesizers.
Add Rhythm and Movement: Use the 3 bipolar Modulation Amount knobs to apply modulation in either a positive or negative direction to the HP and LP Filter Cutoff frequencies from the following Modulation Sources: Velocity, Envelope, and LFO/Step LFO.
Polish off the sound by mixing in delay and reverb send effects. The EP-1 Delay is an emulation of the prized Echoplex magnetic tape delay, and EastWest’s acclaimed convolution Reverb effect that features hundreds of impulse responses (IRs) that capture real spaces like studios, halls, and cathedrals.
With Drive, produce everything from added warmth and texture, to extremely aggressive noise by driving the signal through 1 of 3 types: Bit Crusher, Distortion, and Fuzz.
From the very start, the producers set out to craft something raw and untamed for the modern producer and composer, going far beyond the clean confines of typical libraries. The producers dove deep into sonic experimentation—warping every sound with pitch shifts, bit crushing, and amp distortion—to create a gritty, one-of-a-kind palette spanning hip-hop, electronic, soundtracks, and more. From growling basses to mangled orchestral stabs, each instrument reflects relentless processing, with versatile categories like warped guitars and eerie textures, plus a suite of FX to shape or amplify the chaos. This is a production toolkit with a bold, unfiltered edge—distorted, unpredictable, and built to inspire.
